This live music event features Ruby Archer, and Mia Petra

Presented by Naughty Noodle FunHaus, at the FunHaus Factory Gosford on Friday the 15th of March.

Picture this…

You are walking through Gosford after struggling through another day. Shuffling on this mortal coil. Your weary legs begin to walk you through the sprawling metropolis of Kibble Park. Feeling run down and avoiding eye contact at all costs, a soulful yearning sound washes over you. It fills your ears and your mind. Your thoughts are suddenly perforated by 5-part harmonies, sweet piano melodies, cascading violin solos, and extremely funky bass lines. Mystified, you find yourself drawn to the sound, having forgotten how tired and unhappy you were. In the blink of an eye, you have walked yourself into The Naughty Noodle Fun Haus. You are losing yourself in the intoxicating sonic experience that is the music of Ruby Archer and Mia Petra. You think to yourself, ‘this is the greatest day of my life’ – and it is true. Your life is never the same again.

Okay this may be going a bit far…

…but you will never know unless you bring your dancing shoes and experience this truly breathtaking and empowered line up. If you enjoy punch in the gut lyrics paired with soulful piano and a dose of funk and rock that simply cannot be tamed, you will not want to miss Ruby and the Groovy Doobies.

This will be a night you would be completely bummed to miss out on. In 20 years’ time. Central Coast residents will be sitting around their dinner tables saying “do you remember the Ruby Archer and Mia Petra gig at the Naughty Noodle Fun Haus? What a night that was.” Someone’s friend will remark that they weren’t there, and there will be pitiful silence lasting at least a couple of minutes as everyone else at the table inwardly feels pity for the poor chap who made the fatal error of not purchasing tickets to this gig.

Do not let this be you.

Ruby Archer is an 18-year-old singer-songwriter from the NSW Central Coast. She creates angry, jazzy rock with feminist undertones and husky vocals.

Her debut EP chamomile tea attracted several song writing awards and after putting together a band of like-minded musicians, Ruby and the Groovy Doobies won first prize in YouthRock 2022.Ruby won the 15 Years of triple j’s Unearthed High Competition and the chance to perform with her Groovy Doobies at Vivid Sydney. She was included in the 2023 triple J Unearthed High Yearbook as the artist “most likely to invent an entirely new chord”. Ruby was also featured in the half hour documentary Music Central (ABC Compass) about the power of music to create connection and healing on the NSW Central Coast. Ruby has taken the Youth Category at the Australian Songwriters Association Song Writing Awards for her single ‘New Dream’. Ruby’s debut album ‘Oh So Tender’, showcases her diverse song writing abilities and was released to critical acclaim at the inaugural 2023 Tubular Music Festival.

Mia Petra (previously known as Pikoù Panez) is a songwriter and producer based in Mulubinba (Newcastle). Mia’s innovative use of harmony and rhythm create listening environments that are both heart-hitting and deeply refreshing. Supported by a powerhouse of local musicians, this outfit blends visceral textures and thick vocal arrangements to weave a strikingly diverse musical tapestry. After a long year hiatus, this ensemble is back fresher than ever, serving up a blend of well-loved tracks, and captivating new compositions.
